The Montgomery County Equine Council, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1979 by a few local horseback riders to meet the needs and interest of equestrians in Montgomery and surround counties of Pennsylvania. The initial goal was to save open space and public lands and to increase public access for recreation.
We advocate for safe riding practices and help plan, maintain and monitor public trail systems that are multi-use and non-motorized. The MCEC has worked with the county officials to plan, map, build and sign trails.
Parks include: Evansburg State Park, Green Lane Park, Red, Blue & Orange Trails and equestrian camp grounds, Nockamixon State Park, Perkiomen Trail, Tyler State Park, Valley Forge National Park
