Join the Chesmont Astronomical Society for an evening of astronomy, featuring speakers, presentations, and and observing the heavens through telescopes. Admission and parking free.

  • 5:30 Gates Open
  • 6:00 to 7:00 Educational activities for childdren.
  • 7:00 An introduction regarding the evening’s events and local “dark sky” initiatives will be made, followed by CAS members who will speak about their August total eclipse experience.
  • 8:20 Keynote Speaker Stephen Leete, Mission Systems Engineer from NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center will talk about Gravitational Waves, the ripples in the fabric of space-time caused by some of the most violent and energetic processes in the Universe.
  • 9:15 Drawing of the Grand Prize followed by public stargazing through Amateur Telescopes.
