Multiple spans across the Schuylkill River Trail Bridge in Douglassville are blocked due to a log jam. Paddlers should avoid this bridge, which is located between the boat launch in Union Township's Union Meadows Park and Ganshahawny park in Douglass Township. There have been multiple rescues of paddlers who have gotten trapped in that area.
It is recommended that paddlers wishing to go down river pull out at Union Township Recreation Area Boat Launch (also known as Union Meadows Park)and put in at Ganshahawny Park located on Old Philadelphia Pike in Douglassville, until further notice.

Area to be avoided is marked with X's.
The Schuylkill River Heritage Area is working with Lewis Environmental to have the debris removed across all spans. They hope to begin work by Sept. 5, but high water levels could delay the project. Therefore, this area will likely not be safe throughout most of September. Check back for updates.
