The Pedal & Paddle is back for the 2019 summer season and with a twist. This year, the round-trip excursion will be part of a new series called Trails on Tap, a mobile pop-up beer garden at riverside locations. After pedaling and paddling, participants can enjoy the beer garden which includes food & beverage trucks, comfortable seating, restrooms and more!

Must be 16 or older to participate. All events limited to 15 participants.

This Pedal & Paddle excursion will begin and end at Norristown Riverfront Park. The adventurous activity will begin from the park with a short bike ride along the Schuylkill River Trail lead by Riverbend Cycles. Then participants will stop at the Betzwood Picnic Area of Valley Forge National Historical Park to enjoy provided refreshments. At the picnic area, the group will receive a brief introduction to kayaking from outfitter Take it Outdoors Adventuresbefore paddling back to Norristown Riverfront Park along the Schuylkill River.

Water Quality Lesson: An instructor will join paddlers on the water and stop midway for macro invertebrate sampling and/or basic water quality sampling. Participants will learn about areas of environmental concerns such as sedimentation, bank erosion, and possibly water flow observations depending on the water conditions.
