Instagram post 18077307523157634 Instead of traveling by flying reindeer🦌, Santa will be making his way on the #SchuylkillRiver 🌊 on Sat, Dec. 7, during the Downtown Pottstown Holiday Stroll ☃️❄️. Santa will land at Pottstown Riverfront Park at around 2 p.m. Come watch Santa arrive by dragon boat then stop by Schuylkill River Greenways NHA (140 College Drive, Pottstown) for giveaways as part if the holiday scavenger hunt.

Instagram post 17863612708578616 In late October, a group of students from The U School in Philadelphia visited John Heinz. It's the first urban wildlife 🦅🐢🐟 refuge in the country. Students practiced archery, explored habitats and learned about the career paths of some of the John Heinz staff. Schuylkill ECO (Environmental Career Opportunities) is a career-oriented program that fosters interest in environmental and sustainability fields, and helps students network with field professionals. Instagram post 17842855135747612 Check out this baby snapping turtle spotted on the #schuylkillrivertrail! 🐢 Snapping turtles are identified by the sharp zig zag edges on the backs of their shell, long tails, and hooked upper beaks on their faces. Their "snap" is VERY dangerous as they can shred bones, wood, and aluminum. ❗Watch out for wildlife crossing on the trail and remember,
NEVER ‼
❌put your hands near the snapping turtle's face
❌ pick them up by their tail (it's a continuation of their spine)
❌ flip them over
❌shove them with a stick or foot
❌ change their direction of movement. 🌎❕ Its always best to let nature do its thing and NOT TOUCH snapping turtles, but if you must move it for its safety: ⚠️1. Its always best to call a professional! ⚠️2. If you must move it, find something to inch under its body from the back like a floor mat of a car (gently, they have delicate underbellies) until most of the body is on (dont lift it up!) ⚠️3. Turn the mat and drag it by the back end (turtle facing away from you) to the other side of the road
⚠️4. Immediately turn the mat back around so the turtle is facing the correct way it was originally moving
⚠️5. Inch the turtle off of the mat. Keep snapping turtles straight on their path, fully supported, and low to the ground at all times.

But like we said before, it's best to leave it if you can!
