The public is invited to a grant announcement and groundbreaking celebration for a Schuylkill River Trail section in Pottsville known as Tumbling Run Section.

About the Event

Please join Schuylkill River Greenways for the groundbreaking and kick-off for a trail improvement project on the Tumbling Run Section of the Schuylkill River Trail. The event will be held Friday, June 3, at 2 p.m. A 1.4 mile stretch of the Schuylkill River Trail will be improved with a new trail surface, a path to the crossing at Route 61, and drainage improvements. Senator David Argall and staff, Schuylkill River Greenways National Heritage Area staff, partners and the public will come together for the official opening of the project.

Location Details: The Tumbling Run Trailhead (7 Tumbling Run Road, Pottsville). There is limited parking at the trailhead.  Parking will also be permitted along the adjacent entryway of the Schuylkill Haven Water Treatment Plant.

More Information:

A DCED Keystone Communities Program Grant for $100,000 has been secured by Senator Argall for this project. This trail section had deteriorated significantly due to unavoidably delayed maintenance during the Covid 19 pandemic.  The new, safer trail surface will re-open this 1.4-mile trail section for users of all abilities.
