Auburn Dam Canoe Launch

For your safety, Pennsylvania law does not allow boat traffic between the buoy line and the Auburn Dam.

This 820-ft. long by 46-ft. high concrete gravity dam was built between 1949 and 1950, as part of the “Schuylkill River Desilting Project,” to trap, contain, and remove coal silt from the clogged and dying Schuylkill River. Today, most of the coal silt has been removed and boating and fishing are popular and productive pastimes at this 163-acre impoundment.
