TIDAL SCHUYLKILL COMMITTEE’S WORK

The Tidal Schuylkill Committee works to accomplish the mission of the Schuylkill River Greenways National Heritage Area in the tidal section of the Schuylkill River from the Fairmount Dam to the river’s mouth at the Delaware.

Committee members do the following:

  • Act as SRG’s liaisons to partner organizations, cultivating relationships. The Committee seeks to support and enhance the work of other stakeholder organizations working in the region
  • Identify opportunities for improved SRG integration with existing Tidal Schuylkill Area efforts
  • Organize, host, promote, and/or participate in events, tours, and programming in the Tidal Schuylkill Area
  • Identify and support potential SRG educational programming opportunities within the Philadelphia Tidal Schuylkill Area
  • Monitor development within the Tidal Schuylkill Area with the goal of ensuring that the Schuylkill River is taken into account and protected
  • Monitor any plans for trails within or connecting to the Tidal Schuylkill Area and advise the SRG Staff/Board of any issues, opportunities and concerns. The Schuylkill River Development Corporation (SRDC) is the organization tasked with the development, maintenance and promotion of the Schuylkill River Trail in this area, and the role of this Committee is to support SRDC’s work when appropriate.
