Stewardship Profile: Mark Nevenglosky
When Mark Nevenglosky decided to give kayaking a try in the summer of 2007, he didn’t know he was embarking on more than a paddling trip. He joined the 2008 Schuylkill River Sojourn (without any experience on moving water!) and quickly connected with fellow outdoor enthusiasts and Schuylkill River Greenways supporters, making lifelong friendships.
He became a member, donor, and began volunteering at other Schuylkill River Greenways events. When Mark moved from Schuylkill County to the Phoenixville area he spent more time on the Schuylkill River Trail.
“I got to see first-hand the benefits of an inter-connected, long-range trail,” Mark shared. “The value of the trail is clear: it adds to a growing, vibrant community acting as a compliment to a revitalized main street, and it’s a great way to disconnect from the everyday.”
Joining the SRG Board of Directors in 2021 was an easy decision for Mark, who was now a perennial Sojourner, volunteer, and donor. Being part of the board exposed Mark to much more of the amazing work being driven by Schuylkill River Greenways, especially building and connecting the SRT through Berks and Schuylkill Counties.
“I donate to the Schuylkill River Greenways Stewardship Fund because I want to see this important community and regional asset, the SRT, continue to grow and be maintained as a best-in-class destination.” Mark believes strongly in the goal of the Stewardship Fund: to provide that funding, to maintain the Schuylkill River Trail for many years of enjoyment by current and future generations.
