SRG Welcomes AWE Summer Fellow: Lucia Anewalt

We are thrilled to welcome Lucia Anewalt to the SRG Team as our Alliance for Watershed Education Summer Fellow for 2026. She is a recent Marywood University graduate with a dual major in Spanish and Environmental Studies and had the opportunity to play rugby and competed in track and field as a shot, disc, and hammer thrower.  She is looking to coach at her high school.  We asked few questions to get acquainted, and here’s what she had to share:

What’s your favorite outdoor destination? My favorite outdoor destination is the blue rocks on the Appalachian trail.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go? I’m really hoping to one day travel to Norway and or Ireland, I’m fascinated by their culture and the historical value of their land…and I just really want to see a puffin in the wild

What are you most looking forward to in working at SRG? I am excited to just be a part of the team, to show others what our river and parks offer and how we can keep it clean, healthy and preserved.

What are you reading, watching, listening to these days?I’m currently very into Project Hail Mary, I love the movie, a cinematic and visual masterpiece. The audiobook was beautify made and I’m currently reading the book itself. Highly recommend reading, listening and watching. truly a hopeful wholesome movie/book.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?  I enjoy drawing and creating art, riding my motorcycle on a sunny day, spending time with my family, catching up with the latest reality tv and nerdy movies, spending some time in the gym and of course, enjoying time in nature.

We hope you will welcome Lucia if you see her out at events or on the trail!
