Whether you’re an avid bicyclist and paddler or a beginner, you’ll enjoy this fun adventure! Guides provide instruction and safety.
Participants will learn about the canal, the locktender’s house, and Lock 60, which is the only restored, operating lock remaining of the Schuylkill Navigation System. Following the presentation, they will hop onto bikes and pedal about 5 miles round-trip on the Schuylkill River Trail led by Take It Outdoors. After the ride, the group will enjoy a picnic-like boxed meal before finishing the night with a kayaking loop that begins on the river and returns via the canal led by Take It Outdoors.
All participants will be required to wear the provided personal flotation device and sign a waiver. Regardless of skill level, everyone will receive a safety briefing before beginning the excursion. Participants must register in advance. A meal, guides, bike, kayak and all other gear are included with each registration. The cost is $40 per person.
