Water Trail Alert:
CAUTION: A tree has fallen into the river left opening of the Titus Wing Dam (at River Mile 71.3), causing a hazardous strainer situation in this strong current. Until this hazard is removed, DO NOT attempt to run this chute! Portage on river right around the dam. (February 22, 2023)
Join the first Pedal & Paddle program of the season! The round-trip adventure combines bicycling and paddling. Registration includes a meal and beer (for those 21 & up) at the JJ Ratigan Brewing Company.
Must be 16 or older to participate. This event is limited to 15 participants.
Ride on the Schuylkill River Trail
The adventurous activity will begin with a 4 mile bike ride along the Schuylkill River Trail with Take It Outdoors Adventures. Take It Outdoors will give a safety briefing and provide everyone with a bicycle. Participants will stop at Ganshahawny Park in Douglassville for a water break.
Kayak Along the Schuylkill River
At Ganshahawny Park, the group will receive a safety briefing about paddling from Take It Outdoors. Then the group will get into kayaks to paddle on the Schuylkill River back to Riverfront Park.
Registration includes a meal and beer (for those 21 & up) at the JJ Ratigan Brewing Company in Pottstown, after the bike ride and paddle. Certified guides, a bike, a kayak and all other gear are included with each registration. All participants will be required to wear the provided personal flotation device. Regardless of skill level, everyone will receive a safety briefing before beginning the activity. Participants must register in advance. The cost is $43 per person.
All participants will need to sign a Schuylkill River Greenways Waiver and a Take It Outdoors Adventures Waiver. Parents or guardians will need to complete the waiver for anyone under 18 years old. These waivers can be signed electronically, and MUST be completed by noon on June 8, 2022. If you don’t sign the electronic waivers by this time, you will need to complete them in person on the day of the event. Anyone who doesn’t complete the waivers will not be able to participate.
