About this Event

Must be 16 or older to participate. This event is limited to 15 participants. 

 

Event Location: Pottstown River Front Park, 140 College Drive, Pottstown, PA 19464

What to Bring: All equipment, including bikes, kayaks, paddles, and personal flotation devices (PFDs) are provided, and a box dinner will be served. However, it is recommended that you bring the following items.

  • Prefilled water bottle/s with at least 32 ounces of water. For environmental and sanitary reasons, we prefer not to give out disposable water bottles.
  • Sunscreen
  • Insect repellent
  • Hat
  • Water shoes or old sneakers (backless sandals and crocs aren’t recommended)
  • Bike helmet (we do have extras if you don’t have your own)
Any items, such as cellphones or keys that you do not wish to bring on the water with you can be left with staff prior to the start of the event.

Itinerary: Please note all times are approximate.

5:30 – Introduction and bike safety briefing
5:45 – Begin bike ride along SRT
6:30 – Arrive at Ganshahawny Park for water break
7:00 – Kayak safety briefing. Festoon kayaks with glow sticks, lighting, etc.
7:30 – Begin paddle
8:30 – Arrive back at Pottstown Riverfront Park

Kayak Along the Schuylkill River AND Ride on the Schuylkill River Trail

This adventurous event is for the outdoor enthusiast! Take It Outdoors Adventures will give a safety briefing and provide everyone with a bicycle.  Participants will paddle on the river from Valley Forge to Riverfront Park, stop for a boxed dinner, then get on the trail to return to Valley Forge via biking the trail.  A Valley Forge Park Ranger will give us an overview before we head out in our kayaks.

Food, Gear, & Guides

Registration includes a meal, certified guides, a bike, a kayak and all other gear included. If you have a special request for a boat, please contact Take It Outdoors Adventures directly at the email noah@takeitoutdoorsadventures.com or call 610-656-3969.

More Details

All participants will be required to wear the provided personal flotation device. Regardless of skill level, everyone will receive a safety briefing before beginning the activity. Participants must register in advance. The cost is $43 per person.

All participants will need to sign a Schuylkill River Greenways Waiver and a Take It Outdoors Adventures Waiver. Parents or guardians will need to complete the waiver for anyone under 18 years old. These waivers can be signed electronically, and MUST be completed by noon on July 25, 2022. If you don’t sign the electronic waivers by this time, you will need to complete them in person on the day of the event. Anyone who doesn’t complete the waivers will not be able to participate.
