The Pottstown Plant treats wastewater from the Borough of Pottstown, West Pottsgrove, Upper Pottsgrove, and Lower Pottsgrove Townships. The Wastewater Treatment Plant was upgraded to a 15.6 million gallon a day plant in 1992. The plant treats waste generated by 15,000 area homes, commercial businesses, and industrial sites. Flows can reach as high as 40 million gallons during heavy rain. The source of water comes from the Schuylkill River which provides water to about 2 million people.
