Please come to a public meeting on Jan. 16 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Schuylkill County Agricultural Center conference room. Attendees will discuss an ongoing feasibility study for a Schuylkill River Trail segment. The Schuylkill County Agricultural Center address is “1202 Ag Center Dr, Pottsville, PA 17901.” The Mount Carbon to Schuylkill Haven gap will be the topic. This is the second public meeting held about this specific gap. The first was held on Nov. 8.
The Schuylkill River Greenways National Heritage Area manages the Schuylkill River Trail in Berks and Schuylkill Counties. We are working to continue the Schuylkill River Trail in Schuylkill County by closing two gaps in the trail between Auburn and Landingville and between Mount Carbon and Schuylkill Haven. The consultant team has identified several different trail alignments and options for road and river crossings. The public meeting will include an open discussion with the future neighbors of the trail and the local community to consider options for the trail route.
