In this video, you’ll learn how to build a simple model of a landscape to mimic a watershed. See how watersheds channel rainfall and how pollution impacts water health. This video was originally created as an Instagram Live Video on March 31, 2020. Schuylkill River Greenways Education Director Sarah Crothers builds a watershed model in the video while explaining each step. Instructions on how to make your very own watershed model are below. OPTIONAL EXERCISE

  1. The Schuylkill River Watershed is a bigger landscape made up of smaller watersheds. Find your watershed by determining which smaller watershed you neighborhood is in. Use the “Schuylkill River Watershed Map” above. What other smaller watersheds are near the watershed you live in?
  2. Take a picture of the watershed model you created and share it with Schuylkill River Greenways by posting it on our social media pages or send us a direct message.
