The low-head dam built into the base of this railroad bridge features a hard, 2-3 ft. drop.

Always use caution and scout ahead when approaching problem areas.

To avoid the dam entirely, portage RR (see “action map” below). If you are concerned about damage to your boat, you should portage.

To run the dam, paddle hard through the center of Arch #5 (brick pier on left and stone pier on right) or Arch #6 from RL. Keep paddling as you drop into the pool and don’t stop paddling until you are out of the dam’s boil.
