Use Caution on the Trail During Hunting Season

Wear Bright Orange for Visibility

Hunting season has officially started and will remain active during the cold weather months. Since some sections of the Schuylkill River Trail run through wooded areas where hunting is permitted, take precautions when you’re out on the trail. Hunters are not permitted to hunt on the actual trail but may use the trail to get to permitted hunting areas. Wear bright orange so you are visible to hunters. When walking or jogging carry items that make noise such as bells. Beware that white hats and mittens can resemble a deer’s tail, and that red and green can look brown in dusky light. All 20 of Pennsylvania’s state forests and 97 of the 121 state parks are open to hunting during established hunting seasons. For an interactive map of hunting lands in Pennsylvania, Click Here. All hunters must have a current Pennsylvania hunting license from the Pennsylvania Game Commission, and are required to comply with the rules and regulations of state forests and parks when hunting on state land.
