The Pedal & Paddle is back for the 2019 summer season and with a twist. This year, the round-trip excursion will be part of a new series called Trails on Tap, a mobile pop-up beer garden at riverside locations. After pedaling and paddling, participants can enjoy the beer garden which includes food & beverage trucks, comfortable seating, restrooms and more!

Must be 16 or older to participate. All events limited to 15 participants.

The first Pedal & Paddle of the season will begin and end at Pottstown Riverfront Park. The adventurous activity will begin from the park with a short bike ride along the Schuylkill River Trail lead by Riverbend Cycles. Then participants will stop at Douglassville’s Ganshahawny Park to enjoy provided refreshments. At Gansahawny Park, the group will receive a brief introduction to kayaking from outfitter Take it Outdoors Adventures before paddling back to Pottstown along the Schuylkill River.

Water Quality Lesson: When the group returns to Pottstown Riverfront Park, they will participate in a water quality lesson. An instructor will lead the group in macro invertebrate sampling and/or basic water quality sampling. Participants will learn about areas of environmental concerns such as sedimentation, bank erosion, and possibly water flow observations depending on the water conditions.
