Black Rock Sanctuary
This former Schuylkill River Project impounding basin has been transformed into 119 acres of beautiful woodlands, wetlands, and meadows, all connected by a network of interpretive trails and pathways (“Plant World” self-guided trail station shown below). It provides a relaxing and educational sanctuary for its human visitors, a flyway stop for migrating birds, and a dam passage for American shad on their springtime spawning runs.
