The trailhead at Port Providence was developed for use by trail users through the efforts of Montgomery County Parks & Heritage Services, the Schuylkill Canal Association and Upper Providence Township. Parking for approximately 60 vehicles is available at this location. Trailhead facilities at this location include restrooms, drinking water and a dog park.
Services Available Locally
More facilities can be found a short distance away in Mont Clare and Phoenixville. A canal side restaurant offering kayak rentals can be found a short distance along Providence Road.
Accessing the SRT from this trailhead uses a short paved section of trail with a grade steeper than 3%. The section of SRT from Valley Forge to Mont Clare is mostly off road with a paved surface and a gentle grade of less than 3%. However, a short section of trail south of Mont Clare is currently on road.
This trailhead is managed by Montgomery County.
