Dedicated to the principle of inspiring people to care for the Earth, Riverbend’s mission is to stimulate awareness, appreciation and understanding of our total environment, and to preserve a natural wildlife habitat.
Riverbend’s mission is in action each day and in every season. Local schoolchildren arrive on fall and spring mornings, eager to learn and spend their day exploring Riverbend’s habitats. Camp participants spend summer afternoons investigating the stream, finding crayfish, salamanders and many macro-invertebrates. On weekends, scouts and families hike our trails and take pleasure in camping on our restored meadows.
In addition, birders of all ages observe the many species that make Riverbend their winter home, including the downy woodpecker, white-breasted nuthatch, tufted titmouse, northern junco and black-capped chickadee.
