The Schuylkill River Greenways map is divided by Trailheads, Trail Towns and Places to Visit.
The trailhead at Port Providence was developed for use by trail users through the efforts of Montgomery County Parks & Heritage Services, the Schuylkill Canal Association and Upper Providence Township. Parking for approximately 60 vehicles is available at this location. Trailhead facilities at this location include restrooms, drinking water and a dog park.
Services Available Locally
More facilities can be found a short distance away in Mont Clare and Phoenixville. A canal side restaurant offering kayak rentals can be found a short distance along Providence Road.
Accessibility Notes
Accessing the SRT from this trailhead uses a short paved section of trail with a grade steeper than 3%. The section of SRT from Valley Forge to Mont Clare is mostly off road with a paved surface and a gentle grade of less than 3%. However, a short section of trail south of Mont Clare is currently on road.
