The Schuylkill River Greenways map is divided by Trailheads, Trail Towns and Places to Visit.
Schuylkill County’s heritage is captured in the recorded manuscripts, books, newspapers, photographs, microfilm and genealogical materials which are available to the Society members as well as scholars, students and the general public. Object collections are on display in two exhibit rooms.
The Civil War Room is of particular interest as the County played a significant role in the war. From the First Defenders which shed the first blood to the Battle of the Crater at Petersburg, Virginia county men fought hard often giving their ultimate sacrifice. There is a wide array of Civil War books and other print material.
In the Schuylkill Room artifacts of the mining industry are on display along with period dress and household items that were used in our homes over a century ago. Fragments of the Molly Maguires, the garment industry and needle trade, the Schuylkill Canal and the railroads all played their part in shaping the history of the county.
The Society holds regular monthly meetings with educational programs of local interest, and special events such as Molly Maguire or Civil War weekends.
