Take it Outdoors Adventures
Take It Outdoors connects people to the Schuylkill River through group kayaking, hiking, camping and bike rides.
TIO is more than just an outfitter, they are a non-profit, recreation partner with Schuylkill River Greenways National Heritage Area.
Take it Outdoors offers kayak rentals and shuttles from Riverfront Park in Pottstown in addition to maintaining the free bikeshare program.
Come to Riverfront Park in the summer (from Memorial Day to Labor Day) and you will find plenty of activity at TIO’s Headquarters. you can’t miss the big green container with a custom mural along the side just at the entrance to the SRT from the park. With group paddles, kayak rentals, free bikes, and more, Take it Outdoors Adventures is a great destination for outdoor activity. You can rent a kayak, and the TIO team will shuttle you upriver, giving you plenty of time to explore the area as you kayak back to Pottstown.
Organized guided group adventures include:
- River and lake Paddle trips
- Hiking and backpacking – day and overnight
- Camping
- Bike rides and mountain biking
The Take it Outdoors team is ready to help you connect to the river, under the leadership of Noah Phillips who has worked with Take it Outdoors for over twelve years and became its full-time director in 2020. His goal for Take it Outdoors has always been to see more people paddle the Schuylkill River and learn of its overlooked recreational value. From running weekend shuttles to guiding overnight trips, you will find Noah involved in all aspects of Take it Outdoors.
