The Schuylkill River Greenways map is divided by Trailheads, Trail Towns and Places to Visit.
On this site more than 250 years ago, John Bartram, a Quaker farmer, was stopped in his tracks by a daisy while plowing his fields. The plant’s simplicity and beauty inspired John and his son, William to spend the rest of their lives exploring, collecting and seeking to understand all forms of nature.
Bartram’s Garden has recently expanded to a 50-acre park containing America’s oldest botanical garden and the beautifully restored historic home of America’s first botanist.
You’re welcome to tour the Garden grounds every day from dawn to dusk. Welcome Center hours are Saturdays and Sundays only, 9:30am—4:30pm during the winter. The garden will return to weekday operating hours at a later date in the spring and there is no entry fee.
Educational programs and annual plant and greens sales are held at the site.
