Daniel Boone is an American legend, and he developed his love of nature, and inquisitive nature on his family’s farm in the Oley Valley. After Daniel’s father, Squire Boone, was read out of the local Quaker meeting in 1750, the family moved to North Carolina. The house was home to numerous families after that including a close associate of Benjamin Franklin.
Today, the Daniel Boone Homestead is a state historic site which preserves a number of historic structures, including the farmouse, barn, a working 18th century sawmill, and numerous other buildings from the Oley Valley. The Homestead offers many historic programs and exhibits, preserves 579 acres of open space, and features miles of trails and woodland to explore. Guided and self-guided tours are available during operating hours.
