The Phoenixville Foundry is a model of historic preservation in the Schuylkill River valley. The Phoenix Iron Company Foundry was built in 1882 and was home of the famous Phoenix Column. It served as an iron and steel factory until 1987.
The Schuylkill River Heritage Area, in partnership with the PA Dept. of Conservation and Natural Resources, the Phoenixville Area Economic Development Corp, the Hankin Group and the Schuylkill River Heritage Center, revitalized this unique and historic building and it has recently been reopened to the public.
The Hankin Group currently utilizes this venue for weddings, concerts, festivals, as well as corporate and private events.
The Schuylkill River Heritage Center hosts an interpretive center in the Foundry Building exhibiting the history, artifacts and legacy of the Phoenix Iron Company.
