Valley Forge was the site of the 1777-78 winter encampment of the Continental Army. The park commemorates the sacrifices and perseverance of the Revolutionary War generation and honors the ability of citizens to pull together and overcome adversity during extraordinary times. There are a variety of outdoor activities as well as guided tours and interpretive programs throughout the year. Valley Forge Park contains over 28 miles of authorized trail that are popular for hiking, biking and horseback riding. Picnicking, bird watching, and cross-country skiing are other popular activities. Interpretive and education programs are available throughout the year.
The Visitor Center includes exhibits and collections that tell the story of the Continental Army and the hardships they faced during the encampment.
